Amazon.co.uk Review
A sleeper star vehicle for Denzel Washington Ricochet is a campy revenge thriller in the Brian De Palma style. Director Russell Mulcahy (The Shadow) makes the most of the opportunity to showcase two great actors in an exaggerated story of cops, robbers, and revenge. Washington plays a cop who becomes a rising legal star as a result of arresting master criminal John Lithgow, who escapes prison, fakes his own death, and sets about framing lawyer Washington for various crimes. Lithgow methodically destroys his life, until Washington enlists the help of childhood friend and drug dealer Ice-T to turn the tables and put his tormentor out of business for good. Lurid and violent, the film is also happily over the top, making Ricochet a cheerfully decadent indulgence.--Robert Lane, Amazon.com

this is a 1991 movie that i first saw when i was 12 years old,and i loved it,as a youngster i loved the plot and the violence and the action and if you are asking me if any of those feelings have changed as films get bigger and more budget orientated then i have to say no as ricochet is still a film that deals with revenge, obsessive behaviour and the rise of one and the fall built on chance and circumstance.
Denzel washington is excellent here in one of his first roles whil ejohn lithgow is a sadistic villian who has a certain pleasant charm to him thats likeable but obviously he is a killer and his obsession with washingtons character who became famous for arresting him is border line insane and the outcome is chilling, ice t also is passable playing a character not too far removed from his real life gangsta image, this is very enjoyable stuff, almost legendary to me.

Denzel Washington is great, Ice T is cool, Lithgow is meanReview date: 2004-07-26 Rating: 8 out of 10Nice thrilling movie starring Washington as a successful lawman, Lithgow as a revengeful criminal blackmailing Washington for jailing him, Pollack as Washingtons supportive partner, Ice T as the drug lord who helped Washington and a host of other stars. Nice realistic plot with a good ending.A musclebound lithgow?Review date: 2004-03-06 Rating: 4 out of 10Johns acting is as great as always but it was strange to see the scene in prison when this traditionally gentile character beats up his inmate in prison and take his shirt off to reveal a pumped up bodybuilder physique. Didnt suit him. The film is so so but mostly forgetable.lithgow rulesReview date: 2001-04-04 Rating: 10 out of 10john lithgow is the star of this movie.he play's a badguy called earl talbott blake and is supercool.he is violent and funny at the same time.if you like thrillers this is the movie you should see.Lithgow is super-cool !Review date: 2000-08-01 Rating: 10 out of 10Forget Denzel Washington; forget the movie: Lithgow is the star here. He's got a shotgun. A really cool haircut. One-liners. Good-guys to kill. But he's not just killing these guys, oh no, it's "art."
