Amazon.co.uk Review

Gerald was a tall giraffe Whose neck was long and slim, But his knees were awfully bandy And his legs were rather thin...
Every year Gerald dreads the great Jungle Dance, and feels ashamed that he cannot tango and two-step with the rest of the jungle animals. But then one day he realises that it doesn't matter that he is different from everyone else--its just that he needs a different tune to dance to.

A lovely story, wittily illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees and told in rhyme by the award-winning author Giles Andreae, it has a stealth and humour that makes it perfect for reading aloud. Giraffes Can't Dance is a nifty little 1story that children and adults will love to read time and time again. (Ages 3 to 5 years) --Susan Harrison

Popular children's book purchased as a gift - same author as Rumble in the Jungle which Grandson loves reading - or I should say, having read to him!

I already knew this story before purchasing this for my two year old nephew as part of his Christmas present.

I discovered this emotional story about Gerald the Giraffe when my now 12 year old son was about the same age. It was a firm favourite at bedtime for months and months! He still remembers the story and was delighted to read it to his cousin on Christmas Day.

I am dancing!

This was bought as a present for my daughter. Can't believe that I didn't know about it before this but, as a lover of quality children's books, this is fantastic. A true joy to read, the words dance out and it has a lovely message to share. Don't hesitate in buying this!

Fantastic!

My boy and I love this book. Great pictures, rhymes and interesting story, which teaches that being different could be actually a big chance to be better than the other who pretend to be the best. :)

An amusing story with good pictures.

Who hasn't secretly laughes at giraffes they do seem such strange creatures and this book builds on that notion - the child(ren) you read this with will feel comfortable firstly laughing at the giraffe, and then with it as it starts to learn about itself. A fun read, but also a good basis on which to talk with small children about individuality and how it is alright to be different.
