Synopsis

With the House and Senate getting ready to vote on a highly controversial new bill regarding Government power to investigate its citizens, the usual political machinations - blackmail and deceit - are being fully employed. Meanwhile, after a bungled investigation into an innocent Muslim family, Agent Jack Bauer has been demoted from the high priority field work he is used to and has instead been relegated to infiltrating a small, home-grown militia group with a view to closing them down. But some things don't add up, and Jack find himself embroiled in a convoluted plot against the President, desperately trying to work out whether or not the threat is real; and if it is, who is it coming from?

Decent but nothing special
Review date: 2007-07-03 Rating: 4 out of 10

The story is clever and well constructed but the dialogue is poor, the author doesn't capture Bauer well with his speech so it doesn't feel like you're reading about the same character as on TV. Plus, he likes his characters to swear a bit more than necessary, even the president.

Loved it
Review date: 2006-07-23 Rating: 10 out of 10

I've just finished reading 'Veto Power' and I must say it was a very enjoyable read!

Like a few people have said on their reviews "If you liked 'Operation Hell Gate' you'll love this one", I can totally see where they are coming from.

Veto Power, for me, was a much faster read and certainly kept me wanting more and more.

I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book...

Thank you again 24!

Jack Bauer forced to fight off the back foot, which is when he is at his best, everyone against him, including his bosses, makes for an even better story. If you liked Hell Gate you will love this !

Another good read in the 24 series
Review date: 2005-12-11 Rating: 8 out of 10

Another good read in the 24 series of paperbacks. Probably not as good as "Operation Hellgate", and once again a little confusing with contradictions in the plot. If your a fan of 24 you will probably enjoy.
