Synopsis
A collection of hilarious and compelling insights and anecdotes, diary entries, poems, 'true' facts and cartoons on travel from Karl Pilkington, unlikely star of the Ricky Gervais Show, the world's most successful podcast - now in paperback. This is the travel book for people who don't particularly like travelling, it's Karl Pilkington, star of The Ricky Gervais Podcast Show, with a suitcase, occasionally with his passport, more often with a bemused suspicion of anything vaguely exotic, and an observant eye for the disappointments, tedium, general weirdness and absurdities of being a tourist abroad and at home. From staring at Mount Vesuvius in case it erupts and the horrors of a Lanzarote nudist beach to the curiosities to be seen in the world's weirdest museum. Told with his inimitable deadpan humour, Pilkington's stories are interspersed with fond reflections on life back in England, from Salford joy riders to what his girlfriend's mum and dad have for dinner on a Thursday (it's chops and veg. in case you're wondering).
The man's a genius... and he doesn't know it!

I can't believe this has got any negative reviews. I bought it to take on holiday and it's the perfect holiday read. Had me in stitches, going "Oh my God - that's happened to me!" Karl is a genius - yet he rather modestly doesn't seem to be aware of it. It's a great book to dip in and out of, but I read it cover to cover in a day... just wish it had been longer! Will leave it on my bookshelf and dust it off to re-read the next time I jet off.

Roundy MancReview date: 2008-06-15 Rating: 10 out of 10Listen, the NME podcast wasn't enough. No monkey news, no diary> Karl needs to commit to something regular. Sort it out Karl, dancing around in a hairy outfit on a grown up show is all well and good but its not a full use of your tallents. Sort it out!who is karl pilkington ?Review date: 2008-05-01 Rating: 10 out of 10who is karl pilkington?i cant help feeling that the person he pretends to be is an imaginary simple person who only exists in his own mind.all i can say is he makes me laugh and i enjoyed every page of this book.
is he a genius?ricky gervais thinks not but form your own opinion. One of the funniest books i've ever readReview date: 2008-04-14 Rating: 10 out of 10This book is brilliant, karl is basically the worst philosipher on the planet earth, and his head is similarily shaped to the planet earth aswell. its often his digressions in the book which are the funniest, he can't seem to stay on one topic for too long before he's off on a hilarious rant. If you've never even heard of him you should definately give this book a read. and do some more podcasts you bald manc git!... Like an orange.Review date: 2008-04-14 Rating: 10 out of 10This might sell more if Karl got of his backside and did some more podcasts.
Karl has a head like a flipping orange.
