GREAT LITTLE MOVIE......................
Review date: 2008-04-07 Rating: 8 out of 10

First we had "Bullitt" with its cars; then "Torque" with its bikes; now we have "Black Dog" with articulated trucks.
If you like chases then this one is for you - you will love it.
Patrick Swayze and a great cast keep us interested to the end.
An ex-con is forced by circumstances into driving a truck with something inside that has just got to be dodgy. Not much of a plot, but we can forgive it that as it is thoroughly entertaining with some nice comedy touches.
The soundtrack is absolutely outstanding.
Well worth watching in a light moment!

Black Dog
Review date: 2005-09-25 Rating: 6 out of 10

I'm always suspicious of films that start with a car chase and a host of explosions. Black Dog takes this initial scene just one stage further by having not only a car chase but a truck chase as well.

Unfortunately when happens then is the rest of the hour an a half is just more of the same with trucks, motorbikes, 4x4s, cars, guns, bullets and more explosions littering the screen keeping up "entertainment"

OK, let's not be too harsh, this is an action chase movie, and on those terms alone it certainly delivers. Patrick Swazye plays Jack Crews, a recently released prisoner (vehicular manslaughter) who is given he chance to earn big bucks by driving a "shipment" cross country for his less than trustworthy boss. Facing foreclosure on his mortgage and potentially losing his house Jack takes the job and is hooked up with a truck from a certain character called Red (Meat Loaf), a bible quoting, coupon clipping good old southern boy. It's not long before all isn't as innocent as it seems with a rare old motley crew, led my Re, trying to get their hands on the cargo. Taking a look in the trailer it would seem that poor old misled Jack is transporting boxes of illegal AK-47s, which soon means that a combination of FBI and other law enforcement agencies are tracking Jack down.

There's no real reason to explain what happens next as we've seen it a dozen or more times before in other similar movies, needless to say that it all turns out ok for Jack in the end.

Swazye is one of those actors, that no matter how corny the roll or how cheesy the movie, we still root for him and stay with him to the end. This time there some quite nice buddy-buddy moments with Randy Travis and Gabriel Casseus who both take turns in the cab of Jack's lorry.

All in all, this does exactly what it says on the tin. You can criticise it all you like for the repetition of the chases and explosions and the performances aren't exactly Oscar standard, but it is a lot of fun. My favourite moment has to be when Jack finds the foreclosure notice in his home. Holding this piece of paper that has "FORECLOSURE" written in big bold red type on the top he exclaims "Foreclosure?" out loud to himself, just in case we didn't get what was going on. Subtlety of a house brick!

Black Dog is cool

This is a great road movie that has a great cast patrick is good as an x-con but meat loaf steals the film as a strange and mad gun smugler who likes to cut out vouchers for money off things, has music for all and keeps you going till the end.

And the best thing is it has our KING Sir Meat Loaf!
