OK It's bad but it's reeeeeally good!!

This is obviously a remaks of the original, not a sequel. But 18 years on it's a joy to have at all. Dan Ayckroyd is fantastic again and holds it all together and John Goodman is his usual excellent self.
As every other review agrees, the music is the thing in this movie, not ths story. However some scenes are priceless, Aretha's Mercedes dealership scene which she traded-up from the coffee shop is wonderful!
The music flows non-stop and catches you every time right up till the super-jam at the end and beyond. One for fans but a real joy to behold!

Blues Brothers 2000 Film on DVD

I enjoyed this, despite the crappy story, simply because the musical arrangements were outstanding, played by a WOW Studio Band. Also the cameo appearance of the worlds top artists, such as Joshua Redman on sax,Eric clapton,James Brown, Etc.Forget the Blues Brothers, the rest are a collectors delight.

Oh dear. If you loved the Blues Brothers you'll hate this. It struggles to repeat the same jokes but it's absolutely leaden. Everything about it is wrong.I respectfully suggest you don't buy it then, if somehow you are unlucky enough to see it, I hope you'll send me a few nice thoughts for guiding you away.

Wow

Maybe not quite as good as Blues Brothers which truely is a cult film, but the film is alot more centred on Elwood after the loss of John Belushi,Elwood has just come out of prision and once again wants to get the band back together with hilarious consquences the film has many great moments such as the revist to bob's country bunker, it hard to say without ruining the film but definately worth watching with many of the old characters turing up and some wonderful new additions such as BB king & Eric Claption

An appalling remake of the original

The original Blues Brothers film is fantastic. Sadly, this followup suffers greatly in comparison. The story line is essentially an inferior rehash of the original, the songs are poor (most would struggle to be called blues), and all in all when watching it I just kept thinking how much better the first one was. Even if I hadn't seen the first one, I'd still rate this sequel very poorly though.

Watch the original by all means, but give this one a miss.
