Should have been so much more.

I remember getting all excited when I heard they were making this. The acting is fine the story good but the score let this down. Electric guitars in a fantasy film doesn't work. It ruined the tone of the whole film. A bad score robs a film of any integrity and this film was left looking like an episode of a saturday morning action show.

Kull May Not Have Conquered....But Kevin Did.Review date: 2006-02-25 Rating: 6 out of 10I thought that the film was very tongue in cheek. I was not expecting Conan. The film script was basic, but I felt that Kevin Sorbo had the personality and the physical presence to pull it off.
I enjoyed the film immensely. It was great fun. I loved the romance and the good conquering evil concept.
The action scenes were well done. It is a very physical film.
The fight scenes are well choreographed.
If you are a fan of Andromeda and Hercules you will enjoy watching Kevin Sorbo as Kull.Kulls no ConanReview date: 2006-01-08 Rating: 4 out of 10Well Kevin Sorbos first venture into the world of movies didnt quite turn out to be a big screen debut, only managing a rental video release in this country and proving he isnt the next Arnie at best hes an average TV actor. That isnt a bad thing I have to admit I am somewhat a Sorbo fan Hercules and Andromeda are fine TV shows, he does have screen pressence and always looks the part. Here however he is let down by poor funding and bad script writting. The story is about the Barbarian character Kulls rise to King, subsequent death, rebirth, big fight with demon and marriage, basically. It starts well with a big fight scene to heavy metal guitar, 2 genres that combine well here! But the small budget becomes too aparant too soon, when Kull arrives at what is supposed to be the greatest kingdom in the land, it turns out to be a slightly poorly dressed ruined castle wow, the crowds of commoners offer such poor cheers its almost cringe worthy.
The action is ok but there are a lot of slow scenes and no character development, after one fight Kull is crowned king! It gets better from the island of ice stage but it never has the epic feel it should do. Sorbo looks good as Kull and is given good support by the stunning Katrina Lombard and the smouldering Tia Carrera. The special effects are few and far between but nothing more than what has been seen in Hercules.
Fans of Hercules will like this more than most but Im sure deep down will be dissapointed at what a missed oppertunity this has been.
