Slight breeze rather than storm force
Review date: 2008-08-31 Rating: 2 out of 10

Having read several of the other Declassified novels and been thoroughly enthralled, I was more than disappointed with this latest attempt.
Not only does it sway from the time notifications, but the author has introduced new CTU characters and spends too long trying to introduce them than sticking with the known characters that everyone knows and loves.
This novel should be a stand alone novel and should have been kept away from the 24 Franchise.
Stay clear unless you want to lose 24 hours of your life.

Worst Book In The Declassified series
Review date: 2008-07-01 Rating: 2 out of 10

Having been a fan of 24 since the moment it first aired, and a writer myself, I was always looking forward to the time when more Jack Bauer adventures would be in book form... And up until now I have enjoyed them all.
This 'novel' is a slow, boring, semi thriller that barely involves our favourite protaganist Jack Bauer. The other characters are losely drawn and dangerously dull, the story itself is just nothing close to anything deserving the 24 name.
Also it takes place after Hurricane Katrina, these Declassified novels are suppossed to be set before season 1 of 24, something chronologically wrong there.
Read 24 Declassified: Trinity instead, it chronicles Jack's first encounter with CTU, and is full of knowing references and in-jokes. Buy that one rather than the festering boredom of Storm Force.

Whipping up a storm
Review date: 2008-06-27 Rating: 8 out of 10

This latest entry in the 24 Declassified series is a departure from those that have gone before. Storm Force introduces a new author to the series and a new style. I would go as far as to call this a novel, in the sense that it has far greater depth of character development and character involvement, exemplified through the well thought out and researched back-stories that accompany all of those characters, far exceeding the earlier entries in the series. And it is this detail that adds to the story, rounding out all the characters we meet. In this cast of leading characters Jack is just one of a number of key players. Some enthusiasts may not be happy with this change of emphasis, but stick with it as it is a very good thriller. In fact if you have never read a 24 novel before you will enjoy this as a damn good read. And although Jack is maybe not as prominent throughout as you might expect, be assured he will be there for the final denouement.
