There�s a new CSI on the block. After much anticipation, CSI: Miami finally comes to DVD on the 6th September 2004 from Momentum Pictures to buy. This hugely popular and successful drama follows the trials and dramas of the Miami-Dade crime lab.

A hugely popular spin-off from the original Crime Scene Investigation series set in Las Vegas, CSI: Miami premiered on the American CBS television network and earned the highest rating of any network premiere in the past eight years. Not a small achievement. Now into its second series, CSI Miami has built up its own loyal following and fan-base, and recruiting more with each episode.

Chronicling the work of the Miami-Dade crime investigators, CSI: Miami is set against the sun, fun and tropics of the Florida tourist haven. Leading the team is Horatio Caine, played with steely calm by Emmy-award winning film and TV veteran David Caruso (NYPD Blue, Jade). An ex-bomb squad detective, Horatio is no stranger to confrontations with criminals and the underworld. His second in command is DNA specialist Megan Donner, returning to the team after six months bereavement leave after the death of her husband, and played by the Emmy-award winning actress Kim Delaney (LA Law, NYPD Blue).

The rest of the team is comprised of: Calleigh Duquene played by Emily Procter (The West Wing), the bilingual ballistics expert who has the looks of a beauty queen but who can hold her own with any perpetrator; underwater recovery expert with strong ties to the large Miami Cuban community, Eric Delko, played by Adam Rodriguez; Tim Speedle, played by cult actor Rory Cochrane (Dazed and Confused, Hart�s War), a talented young criminologist who�s doing the job to honour his deceased friend; and rounding off the team is Alex Woods (Khandi Alexander), the no-nonsense coroner who displays empathy and feeling for all her cases.

CSI: Miami is another feather to the bow of Alliance Atlantis and master-producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys, Pirates of the Caribbean) who, with this show and CSI: Las Vegas, has proved to have the Midas touch in film and television. This is a release that any self-respecting fan of quality drama cannot afford to miss.
